Welcome to Southlawn United Methodist Church
Love God, Love Others, Serve One Another

Southlawn Is
Currently Closed
Southlawn suffered some damage from Sunday's (March 30) storms, but we are prayerfully and aggressively correcting the issue. The building is currently closed for at least through this Sunday, April 6th and tenatively through Sunday, April13th.
We will keep you posted as to when the building will be open again.

Here you will find a caring and committed group of people who love God and desire to become faithful followers of Jesus Christ. Whether you are a life-long member or a first-time visitor we welcome you to come and worship with us. Southlawn strives to be a place where people can encounter God and discover a new or renewed relationship with Jesus Christ and join together in ministry to the world. Our desire is that we would be an authentic, biblical community where people experience and express the reality of God's love in our community and our world.
About Our Church
Our Mission
The mission of all United Methodist Churches is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
At Southlawn, we accomplish this mission by being a lighthouse of love and concern for all people. Our goal is to serve as a beacon to the community, disciples of God's word, a community of praise, a source of Christian values and an intergenerational outreach center.
Worship
Southlawn has one worship service at 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments. We worship in an informal traditional style, which means that our service will include liturgy and prayers that reflect our rich historical tradition and we will sing both traditional hymns and contemporary praise music appropriate for the theme that emerges through the Scripture for the day. Attire is mostly casual, but some people may dress more formally on various occasions.
Children are welcome in our worship service, which offers a special time of Focus on the Children. Children's Church is offered each week during the sermon time to help children discover the meaning of the gospel on their own terms. Several times a year the children practice special music or dramas to be celebrated in worship. This is an optional activity and is open to all school-age children and youth. Nursery service is available for younger children.
Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month, Christmas Eve and during our Sunrise Service on Easter morning. We observe an open Communion which means that members, non-members, visitors and newcomers who have a desire to know and love Jesus Christ are welcome to participate.
